The Advantages of Pseudo-Stradified Cells
The mucus captures anything that it doesn't want to get down to the lungs. And then the cilia beats it up into your pharynx so that you can swallow it or spit it out. Excalator: The best answer I've been able to find for this is that being pseudo-stradified actually provides a slightly better layer of defense because the cells tend to be slightly overlapping.
