The Importance of Story DNA
Blake Snyder came up with the concept of story DNA in his book. He says every log line needs a hero goal obstacle and stakes. If you don't have any one of those things, you're not going to tell a good story. This is why I think all the things in my book are connected - if you're having trouble making that rock solid then it's just like a bunch of loose anecdotes or stories scattered together.
