The Power of the Hyacinth
Yukaria Nueichi is a biochemist from the University of Port Harkut in Nigeria. Despite personal risk to her safety, she has spent 20 years teaching communities how these plants can suck up, talk to the oil and bring their land back to life. Her success comes from getting communities who have deep mistrust of outsiders to clean up spills after promises are broken. She gets them to trust her and then they take ownership of the land for restoration.
