Counting Rods in the Early Periods
An ecountring was found in common to help, you know, them to visualize what they are seeing in the sky. There's even a theory that written symbols for words and letters came initially from symbols for numbers. And i think the motivation for doing it was, as tomaco said, looking at things happening up in the sky,. but also much more practical, things down on the ground, how much land have i got? How many sheep have I got? How much tax am i owing?
