A globalist is someone who thinks that a genuine character trait needs to manifest itself in all trait relevant situations, while a localist says these character traits only need to manifest themselves in some trait relevant situations with particular characteristics. One very popular explanation is that there's something called a conspiracy mentality,. And one of the most influential psychological theories around now is that people believe conspiracy theories at least in part because they have this thing, which psychologists call a conspiracy mentality.
