When we try and describe a system of ethics that has something outside of itself that has value, then I think environmentalism is probably the closest thing that comes to religious belief. That's why I find the idea that it's all about us, what we think, what our consensus is, that I find just troubling. Not because I think people are wrong, they're bad people. It's just that I just don't know how long that goes on. Our third witness was interesting on these things, but is he right, do you think?
