Trees can recognize which ones are their own seedlings. They have kin recognition. And they're able to adjust where they're sending carbon based on the identity of their kin. In a forest, if we were to look at every species of fungi and every network, there would be hundreds. So what do we do about this? Better than protesting and chaining ourselves to trees. But we also need to figure out ways where we can emulate some of these more careful management practices.
