Is There a Meaning in Poems?
I felt that in the process of dissecting it, purely cerebral message had been taken out of context. Poetry is saying seven or eight things to you in different modalities. It's not just sending a message that the computer could understand by putting access to a lexicon together with a grammar. All this was being kind of as it were cleaned out of the way in the effort to find out what this thing is. And I must say that I'm not against the analysis of a poem. But my view is the analysis adds a little bit of richness, but then we need to take that information back into a big picture in which it first has true meaning.
