The Holiday Blues and Major Depressive Disorder

A third factor that may contribute to the holiday blues is unrealistic expectations about ourselves. Be realistic in what you seek to achieve, both personally and professionally. Don't label the holidays as a time to cure all past problems. The holidays do not prevent sadness or loneliness. And it's important for us to be aware of the symptoms of depression so that we'll know whether we're struggling with holiday blues or something more serious.
