The Boom in the History of Capitalism
A boom was preceded for three decades, an unprecedented period in the history of capitalism, an enormous boom. That boom in itself had the effect of completing the gangliness, electrification of the communist party and of the social democracy as tendencies working for a transformation of society. And therefore this was a period of enormous confusion, a period of backsliding, if you like, in relation to theory. But as we explained, the boom also in itself had certain positive features. It enormously increased the power, the strength, and the cohesion of the working class.
