Would Going Hard on the January Sixth Detainees Radiate Them Further?
The attorney general thinks that going hard on the january sixth defendants would radicalize them further. We have pretty good reason to think that every time we send some one to jail, we've probably increased the chances of them committing more crimes in the future. Going to jail is horribly disruptive to people's lives. They lose their jobs, sometimes they lose custody of their kids. A lot of private employers won't hire people who have a criminal history.
