It seems like a one set to or nearly to failure is all that you need on that particular muscle or muscle groups. Some of the problem with with that is that let's say you're doing a bench press, there are going to be some muscles that fail or fatigue earlier than than others. The ones that weren't brought to complete muscular failure don't always get stimulated. But when we're also pretty honest, it's fairly clear that the the total volume of work done does seem to lead to increases in total muscle protein synthesis.
