The phone system grew from being this big monolith operated by effective monopolies like etn tthe us. Private branch exchanges were essentially miny switchboards that allowed businesses to rout phone cults. The 19 seventies came with bell bottoms, tide eye shirts and a new tech that we still use today in phone support.
