I don't think it's because science is political, right? I'm thinking of the seat belts. They were introduced back in the mid 20th century. And just like we saw with the COVID vaccine, etc., there was a huge segment of the population that wailed and moaned and complained. It does feel uniquely American. But if we're going to talk about our values, our values are political.
