I Think the Biggest Gaps in End of Life Care Are in the Clinical Experience
In medical school, the level of a teaching was still kind of quite nimal. And for example, there's still no required rotation in palatif care. The field has done a pretty good job teaching communication skills. But we don't have the content and knowledge to use data that may come to us about our patients' mental health or substance use. We can on the psychiatric aspects of palative care. Psycho psychiatric training is about major mental illness, but it doesn't address many of the things that are central to the experience of patients with serious illness.
