The Mystery of Radio Echoes

Long-delayed echoes are signals that bounce around the earth several times. In 1954, two American newspapers reported a story that might explain these radio echoes. The story got scientists very excited but also caused the Pentagon to panic. Throughout the late 1950s, there were multiple observations of what was called a dark satellite. By 1960, the Defense Department finally acknowledged it. Today, the identity and origin of the mystery satellite is not known despite nearly two weeks of tracking.
