The Importance of Good Period in Ethics
It's possible that these are independent questions, but it turns out upon examination that we do need the notion of bad period. I'm inclined to think that we've exhausted our reasons for being concerned about pain simply by noticing that it's actually bad for the person who is feeling it. And so the question arises about pain. Is there some insight that we get into pain or into how we should deal with it and react to it? The idea that seems to be suggested when someone says that is that somehow there's more disvalue in the world when there is pain in it.
