Breast Feeding in the United States

In the united states, breast feeding is associated with class status. White women who have higher levels of education are much more likely to breast feed than black women and women who are poor or less educated. So what we're doing in the united states is we're elevating the breast feeding practices of mike, white, middle class, educated women to be the national standard. And then we're saying, everybody who doesn't meet that white middle class standard of feeding practices is not doing right bi their babies, is a bad parent.
