What Is the Purpose of the Soul?

The faculties that we're talking about are also different. How easy is it to determine whether there is one built-in purpose for these faculties and what that might be versus other things? Someone might well argue that the purpose of the sexual faculty is just as much pleasure or companionship or whatever as procreation. And how are we to determine which is which, especially in a morally binding way? That's why at the beginning I drew a distinction between the physiological functions of the body and the powers of the soul.
