In your first book, Political Thought and the Public Sphere in Tanzania, you explore the varied languages of freedom, democracy and citizenship invoked by political actors in mid-20th century Tanzania. One of these is the Swahili term, Andeléo. How would you translate this for our listeners? And why do you think that it is a key concept for understanding the intellectual history of decolonization in Tanzania,. along with say more well-known concepts of freedom like Uru or Ujama?
