Mental factors are texonomy of our mind, an attempt to map our mental life. And the beauty of the abidama approach is to define each of them distinctly. For example, in any given moment of asustaint attention, you have an intention which moves you to engage. Attention is what selects, mindfulness is what retains, and concentration is what allows you that single pointedness. The whole psychology behind the mental factors is a beautiful one.
