The Importance of Military Tradition

There was no military tradition in the family at all, except for a grand uncle. He was part of the last combat cavalry regiment in the United States Army. But he wound up in Iceland for the duration of the war, deriding the whole experience. I only realized in my grownup days that if Hitler had won the battle of Britain, Iceland was next.
