The Future of Government Debt
Government debt can only outrun the economy for so long before it either stifles the economy or lenders quit buying our debt. Presently, with a strong economy and a stable currency, investors are happy to buy treasury bills and bonds which we use to finance the gap between our taxes and our spending. Eventually though, the debt will become so large compared to the economy that investors will think, I'm not convinced you can pay me back.
