The Existence of Anxiety

Anxiety is linked to the fact that any demand, even the most archaic, always has something a lusory about it with respect to what preserves the place of desire. Lacan: Demands are meant to be partially satisfied because the need-based component of demand is the blanket. There's a danger in trying to fill in the demand by trying to love the child fully or more often, trying instead to think that it was just a matter of a blanket.
