The reason for the tent was so that i may dwell among you, and from there, i will speak to you from the middle of the tent. It's supposed to be the tent of meeting, which is what ih is, what is called the tent of Meeting. And now here's moses with the finished tent, trying to get in, and can't meet god. This relationship is, from its beginning, a ruptured one, fragile, fragile relationship. The only thing that happened in between those two moments that could explain this is the story of the golden calf.
