The Inner Critic Is Your Friend, Not Your Enemy
When we experience intense rejection, we feel as if we have one hope of maintaining that closeness with whoever it is that is rejecting us. We essentially create a split within our own psyche so that we can turn against the part of ourselves that is being rejected. When we do this, we try to establish a sense of rapport and closeness by virtue of having a common enemy. The internal self-rejector however is actually externally oriented. Its modus operandi is to try to get the external rejection to stop, to shut it down. To understand more about the inner critic, watch my video titled, Inner Voice.
