Light Cavalry - The Third Sub-Type of Mounted Troops
The light cavalry specialized in fighting away from the main body of the army. They carried only minimal equipment, often just a light sabre and a pistol or two. Their small, fast horses enabled them to get out of danger to fight another day. The skirmishes of the light cavalry are not immortalized in the same way as the great battles of this era.
