Race and the Death Penalty

The Supreme Court's failure to act in McCleskey was clearly shown to be, you know, sort of racist administration of the death penalty. Studies have shown that jurors are three times more likely to recommend a death sentence for a black defendant than for a white defendant in a similar case. In 96% of states where there have been reviews of race and the death penalty, there's shown to be a pattern of either race of victim or race of defendant discrimination or both.
