In our society of self-deception and ideological pretenses, that the songs of lament and complaint are a mode of speech that has to be recovered in the life of the church. The way they have been placed liturgically, they are robbed of their speech. And I believe that serious covenanting has to do with the weaker party forcing the stronger party to change.
