The Inkhorn Terms
A popular geometry text book composed by a welsh mathematician named robert record. It was published in 15 51 and was mostly an english translation of an ancient greek work on geometry. Records choice showed that he was sensitive to the growing criticism against the use of those technical loan words. Those technical or fancy loan words were derisively referred to as inkhorn terms at the time. The implication was that some writers were using up all the ink in their inkhorns by writing down those long, fancy loan words which many english speakers didn't even understand.
