The Importance of Artificial General Intelligence
The important machines, the ones that change history and society, are not just toys. They have economic impact when they can be used to do work previously requiring animal labor or human labor in a super humanly productive way. AI is being developed today to be a replacement for humans' brains. Unintelligent specialized machines replace the work done less quickly by intelligent, generalist human beings. No human being could have the narrowness of expertise of an industrial robot and function and stay alive.
