The Importance of Intellectual Pride in Philosophy
I was just sort of interested in what way, because obviously not everybody who takes a philosophy class is interested in truth. And so I was curious about the ways that people might incorporate certain aspects of it into their own sort of twisted philosophy or something. It's sort of like the question I have about why certain people go into medieval studies, meaning to subvert everything that they're reading. Sure, or to go into Shakespeare studies. And it has nothing to do with what Shakespeare was actually writing about. Well it's another one of these, as he said, that some people read looking for certain kinds of esoteric meanings to feed their pride.
