Musharraf's legacy is personal to me as I was in Karachi during his time. He gave everyone a false sense of comfort with the lifestyle afforded by selling our geo-strategic location in exchange for American dollars. Exports as a percentage of GDP were never below 16.1% in 8 years preceding Musharraf's takeover. They would never return to those levels. The last major myth about Musharraf is the economical progress in his time. No tax reforms, no land reforms, no civil service reforms and then we say Pakistan is a terrible state?
