I grew up in a largely culturally catholic, italian brooklyn family. I didn't know i wasn't jewish until i realized our kitchen smelt differently. My brother used to skip religious instruction on wed Wednesday afternoon to play basket ball in the yshiva rambama. A good friend who as a trotskyite, she always said that i was bourgeois, and she was right. You know, i just didn't know what all that meant.
