I wonder if in one sense, like even though the volume of garbage content will increase, it may actually lead to a bit more critical thinking with people interpreting the things they read. One other noticeable degradation in chat GPT this week came out of chat GPT's browse feature. People were using it similar to what you talked about to crawl a recipe site to just get the ingredients and extract the data so they didn't have to do it.
