Cyril's mother is a grief counsellor. She does this amazing work comforting people, confronting the reality of grief in ways that are unassailably beautiful and transcendent. And at the same time, she is emotionally negligent and sometimes hurtful towards rown kids. Cyril: When her eyes grow dark and she walls into herself... i don't know if our mam is ever noticed. You've got to continue to find the platform upon which you can speak to her in a way that she hears.
