I found a comment from someone saying, the event port code is rife with these unsafe casts. I was like, oh my god, it's got to be in here. And that turned out to be a total red herring too. So there were a bunch of times where I thought I was super close. But the time I thought at the most was last Tuesday, which was when I actually did end up napping it.
