How Do You Know if the Market Is Going Sideways?
If you've got 12 or 16 positions and they're all going south, those types of events don't come along very often. You can usually get a little bit of a tell on the market before that happens. And if you create your market regime filter in such a way that it can detect these periods, then that will allow you to either reduce your exposure or get out of the market completely.
