The Four Modes of Qualities

Not all qualities are reasons. How can all qualities be potentialities? Beauty certainly does have some power. Is it so also with triangularity? Quality should not be made to consist in power, but rather in the disposition. Money consists in a non-essential character. The man who is naturally capable of boxing owes it to a certain disposition. Humility is a quality of the subject in which it is located. If we recognize several kinds of qualities, why should we distinguish capacity and disposition? Why should we distinguished between durable or temporary qualities? For any kind of primary quality there must be a secondary kind of tertiary quality. A quality is therefore a power which adds essential characteristics to already existing
