Federated, which would soon become Macy's, was going to be the biggest retailers in the US and the world. We bought the company for $11 billion, but we relatively soon were able to sell off $8 billion worth of assets. I sold by sold Lord and Taylor for $1.2 billion within a year,. And then I sold David's bridal for another 800 million sold duplicate stores because May Company and Federated had stores in the same mall.
