Xi Jinping's Military Drills in Taiwan
China has finished three days of military drills they included what they call ceiling off the island simulations of targeted strikes. It's posturing I don't wish to minimize it but it's nowhere near as grand and reactionary as when Nancy Pelosi's surprise visit to Taiwan provoked a much bigger reaction. So one reading of it will be that Xi is flexing his muscle having strengthened his hold on the presidency recently he's now effectively president for life after the last communist party conference which changed the rules allowing him to stay on for more than two terms. Another equally valid interpretation would be that he isflexing his muscle in the minimum possible way.
