Blockchain and the Democracy of Truth

The democratic spirit, which I think powers some of this blockchain stuff, supposes that every individual can contribute to a collective effort of truth. But if garbage in garbage out, why should we prefer sort of this decentralized approach to truth as opposed to looking to the enlightened few to provide the truth? I think that's a great question. And so for me,Blockchain technologies are about creating consensus and involving everybody in maintaining that ledger of self-evident truth.
