The Influence of New Orleans Music on Popular Music

Gotchock was the first person to put New Orleans music into some sort of permanent form. He knew and incorporated folk melodies he heard in New Orleans, and that music had a lot of influences from a lot of different places. If there's one song that sums up New Orleans music more than any other, it's Junkers Blues. Gotchock also presaged the careers of many 20th century musicians.
