I feel like we don't really see this happen anymore because I think they were just like repressed and like secretly trans. Like there's so many quotes from gay male fashion designers from the 20th century where they're just like I want to make women feel beautiful. That's kind of like Mark Jacobs's turn now that I think like gender exploration has been destigmatized. But also their example is like Coco Chanel where like her whole fashion philosophy was she just like made clones of herself. She took her personal style and just hit copy paste on a bunch of girls on the runway.
