Elegablus married a vestal virgin, who was supposed to consecrate her virginity to the preservation of rome's hearth. He wrote to the senate saying that he claimed this was a marriage between a priest and priestess,. But it seems his motivation was to conduct a symbolic marriage between his own god, elegabel, and goddess vesta. The women were buried alive if they had fallen in love with him.
