Policing Black Urban Communities After the Great Migration
A lot of this is due to individual white families deciding, there goes the neighborhood. And of course, like the real estate industry deciding that integration was a strong predictor of falling home values. It's not just that the white people saw like a flood of black migrants and just said, o screw this. We're leaving. That was a lot of it. Not to say it wasn't, but there's an element of, like, why is crime rising? There are complicated socia, economic conversations around that. Why is the police getting harsher these now black residents and sparking these riots? And, like, that's how you saw this flight happen.
