The History of Crime in Early Modern Europe
The Middle Ages were actually far more violent than the 16th century. The two most common forms of true crime entertainment in early modern Europe were the printed pamphlet and the broadside. In Germany, the spectacular crimes that they wanted to write about were especially crimes where somebody killed more than one person.
