Why Did Tycho Brahi Have a Metal Nose?

Tycho brahi may have been the world's first borg astronomer. He lost his biological nose in a duel with a nobleman who happened to be his third cousin. His remains were exhumed, and they could tell by the metallic residue that the nose he wore most of the time was actually brass.
