What Do You Think of the Consumer Price Increases Over the Past Two Years?
Bob Greene: To what degree do you think the consumer price increases that we've seen over the past two years have been inflation by your definition? And to what degree doyou see in the monetary systems, signs of inflation or deflation going forward? Jeff Greene: I think there are two things that moderate the data set. One is just base effects, which is if we're comparing something to June of 2022, when the price of oil is at $120,. If it's $119, that's going to be quote deflation. It also explains what I think happened last year, which is nothing more than a supply shock, not genuine inflation.
