The Big Gods Aren't Omniscient, Nor Are They Punitive

In earlier societies that were much smaller, people didn't believe in these big gods. Those types of small societies where you don't have those anonymous, stranger challenges, tend not to have these large, pumitive gods. Their gods tend to be smaller and weaker and less morally concerned. And so you tend to see that those large gods, the punitive gods, only emerge when it's necessary to have that co operation spread....
